It is known that the leaf of Myrtus communis L. )family: Myrtaceae( has medicinaland anti-microbial effects. In this study, the TLC extract of myrtle (M.commonis L.)leaves was investigated for the antifungal activities on the pathogenic aquatic fungalsaprophytes of the inflicted eggs of rainbow trout, in vitro. The extracts of the plantderived with TLC methods then antifungal activities of the leaves extract wereevaluated against two saprophyte fungi with the disc diffusion methods 0.625, 1.25,2.5, 5% in volume of 8 microliters and its growth was monitored for a week. Nistatin(1%), as a positive and methanol as a negative control were used. The best inhibitoryeffects of the extract were achieved by the concentration of 5% for Saprolegnia spp.and 1.25% for Fusarium spp. It was also observed that Saprolegnia spp. is moreresistant than Fusarium spp. to the extract. The results showed that the herbal TLCextract has a protective effect against fungal growth. According to our results, moreinvestigations on the anticipated effect of the methanol extract on these twosaprophytes are ongoing.
