خلاصه مقاله:
The burrowing goby, Trypauchen vagina inhabits in shallow muddy coasts of Indo-Pacific and it is believed that the Persian Gulf and Red Sea is the eastern distributionborder of this species. Sampling of this species is difficult because of its burrowingcharacteristics and habitat, so there are few specimens in museums. Four specimensof this species collected from Tange-Khoran northern Qeshm Island using a trawlnet in summer 2013. The only previous report of this species is from Kuwait coastson 1986. Morphometric characteristics were measured using calipers to the nearest0.01 mm. Meristic features were counted using a stereomicroscope and radiography, and compared with Trypauchen vagina diagnostic characteristics. Biometry resultswere as follows: dorsal fin rays (54-57), anal fin rays (43-47), caudal vertebra (24),SL/TL (0.87-0.91), head length/SL (14.8-16%), predorsal length/SL (19.9-21.3%),prepelvic length/SL (15.3-16.2%) and preanal length/SL. Then, Identification wasconfirmed by the Queensland tropical museum and specimens were put in TCAcollection. This study is first documented report of inhabiting burrowing goby inIranian coasts of Persian Gulf and adds a new species to list of Iranian Marine fishfauna.
