خلاصه مقاله:
Faunistic studies account as the baseline for developing any management strategy to combat pests associated with forests and ultimate conservation and protection of natural resources. The national project was begun in and extended through the year in northern forests of Iran. The purpose of the project was to collect and identify arthropod fauna and major pests associated with beech, hornbeam, maple and alder forests. For collecting of the entomological material, several different methods were used. Depending on the type of insects involved, cyanide or ethyl acetate was used as killing agent. Following transfer of insect specimens to laboratory in respective province, the specimens were mounted and the relevant information was recorded. Collecting materials from different provinces sent to Forest and Range Arthropod Museum (FRAM). Many scientific sources include electronic documents, diagnostic keys as well as cooperation of various senior experts inside and outside of the country were used to assist recognizing insect families, genera and species. A vast number of insect specimens have been collected and are currently maintained at FRAM. Of species collected in Mazandaran province, pest species were collected on beech and have been collected on hornbeam, on maple and belonged to alder. Meanwhile species of spiders were collected and identified in northern forests of the country.
