The lesser date moth is one of most important pests of date palm tree in palm orchards and for the past several years it has been controled by aerial application of pesticides. The research work done in khoozestan province during years 1995 to 1996 indicated that this method did not eficiently control the pest,and chemicals sprayed on the date palm trees, contaminated the environment. So this methhod was stopped in khoozestan at 1997. In this study dust formulations of Fenitrothion, Diazinon, Chlorpyrifos, Malathion and Pirimiphos methyl were used. All of these chemicals were used with concentration of 5 mg/kg in wheat flour and about 5 gr of formulation was dusted bunch on the female clusters of dates at the time of pollination. The results showed that application of dust formulations of the above chemicals to dates at the time of pollination lowered infestation of lesser date moth from 1.5 to 3.5 percent in comparision with the control which showed 5.2 percent infestation of fruits.
