خلاصه مقاله:
Objective: In people who are genetically predisposed to celiac disease, eating gluten, which is part of the structure of many grains, can lead to intestinal tract damage with an inadequate immune response. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the frequency of gallstones in CD.Material & Methods: This was an analytical cross- sectional study in which all celiac disease data were analyzed using the database of West Azerbaijan Population-Based Celiac Registry. The main criterion evaluated in this study was the frequency of gallstone in samples with CD. To evaluate the results, information related to gender, age, body mass index, bilirubin and cholesterol level, anti-transglutaminase antibody level and the frequency of gallstones were extracted from celiac disease files. Results: The median age of the patients with CD who were included in the study was ۳۳ years (۵-۸۳). A total of ۶۶.۵ % of the patients was female, and ۳۳.۵ % were male. Gallstones were detected in six (۴.۲۳%) of CD-diagnosed cases. There is no significant relationship between the frequency of gallstones and age (P=۰.۱۹۳), sex (۱.۰۰) and obesity based on body mass index (P= ۰.۶۸۴) in patients with CD. Three (۱.۱۵%) of the patients who were referred with the diagnosis of gallstones were diagnosed with CD.Conclusion: The prevalence of biliary stones in celiac patients may be higher than the normal population. Hypocholesteremia, is the predisposing factors for gallstones. Significant relationship between was seen in the frequency of gallstones and bilirubin levels in patients with CD.
