Backgrounds: Human Papillomavirus type ۱۶ (HPV-۱۶) is the most common cause of cervicalcancer which induces carcinogenesis through the permanent expression of E۶ and E۷ oncogenes.The expression level of some miRNAs changes in response to the permanent expression of theseoncogenes. Deregulated miRNAs in cervical cancer tissue can be used for the detection andtreatment of cervical cancer. Identification of the interactions between miRNAs and E۶ and E۷mRNAs may help us to find the most suitable miRNAs. hsa-miR-۱۴۳-۵p which is downregulatedin cervical cancer targets ELK۱ and inhibits the progression of cervical cancer.However, the interactions between E۶ and E۷ mRNAs and hsa-miR-۱۴۳-۵p are unclear. The aimof the present study is the prediction of these interactions.Materials and Methods: The sequences of E۶ and E۷ genes from HPV-۱۶ and hsa-miR-۱۴۳-۵pwere obtained from GenBank (NC_۰۰۱۵۲۶.۴) and miRBase databases, respectively. The genesequences were converted to mRNA sequences using a transcription tool. Then, the interactionsbetween E۶ and E۷ mRNAs and hsa-miR-۱۴۳-۵p were predicted using RNA۲۲ v۲ andRNAhybrid v۲.۲.Results: Based on the obtained results of RNA۲۲ v۲, the complementary relationship betweenE۶ mRNA and hsa-miR-۱۴۳-۵p was significant (P = ۴.۹۵e-۲). However, E۷ mRNA has nointeraction with hsa-miR-۱۴۳-۵p. RNAhybrid v۲.۲ showed that hsa-miR-۱۴۳-۵p had acomplementary relationship with E۶ mRNA (MFE = -۲۶.۷kcal/mol) and E۷ mRNA (MFE = -۲۴.۳kcal/mol). It seems the E۶ mRNA sponges hsa-miR-۱۴۳-۵p and reduces its expression levelin the tumoral cells.Conclusion: hsa-miR-۱۴۳-۵p has strong interactions with E۶ mRNA and can be a good targetfor the detection and treatment of cervical cancer.
