خلاصه مقاله:
Background: Most research on children and adolescents with COVID-۱۹, had limited sample sizes and little clinical, laboratory, and radiological findings. The purpose of this research was to examine the features of children and adolescents with COVID-۱۹ infection. Methods: This analytical retrospective study was conducted on children (۱ to ۱۲ years old) and adolescents (۱۳ to ۱۹ years old) with COVID-۱۹ in Shahid Beheshti Hospital, Kashan, Iran. The data were then collected, entered into SPSS and analyzed. Results: In the adolescent group, the frequency of dyspnea (۴۷.۱ % vs. ۱۱.۹%), cough (۶۷.۱ % vs. ۳۹.۲%), lethargy (۴۲.۹ % vs. ۲۵.۹%), headache (۳۵.۷ % vs. ۱۰.۵%), myalgia (۳۸.۶ % vs. ۱۴%), and chest pain (۱۲.۹ % vs. ۰.۷%) were significantly higher than those in children (p<۰.۰۵). Furthermore, in terms of laboratory findings, the normal range of neutrophils (۱۳.۸% vs. ۱.۴%), Cr (۹۵% vs. ۷۵.۷%), and CRP (۷۷.۹% vs. ۵۸%) were higher in children. Moreover, we found that the CT severity score among adolescent patients was significantly higher than that in children (۴.۸۴ ± ۵.۲۱ vs. ۱.۷۶ ± ۳.۲۵, p=۰.۰۰۶). Also, the frequency of consolidation (۶۱.۳ % vs. ۱۹%), and ground-glass opacity (۵۸.۱ % vs. ۲۸.۶%) among adolescents were significantly higher compared to child cases (p<۰.۰۵) while only the frequency of mosaic pattern of pulmonary parenchymal attenuation was significantly higher among children (p=۰.۰۳۵).Conclusion: This research found milder clinical, biochemical, and radiological symptoms in children with COVID-۱۹ than adolescents. However, radiological examinations showed greater rates of pulmonary parenchymal mosaic attenuation, which might help early diagnosis of COVID-۱۹.
