Various pollutants such as dyes following the arrival to ecosystems lead to serious globalenvironmental pollution. Due to global strict regulations, it is obligatory to treat the wastewaterbefore being discharged into the environment [۱]. One of the common, reliable, and usefultechniques employed for the removal of synthetic dyes from industrial effluents is an adsorptionprocess [۲]. In this study, the zirconium-fumarate metal-organic framework (MOF-۸۰۱) wassynthesized using solvothermal method [۳]. The synthesized MOF-۸۰۱ was characterized by XRD,SEM, IR, TGA, and BET techniques. XRD result was shown the highly crystalline nature of theMOF-۸۰۱. BET surface area analysis verified the highly porous nature of the MOF-۸۰۱.morphology of the obtained MOF-۸۰۱ was examined by the scanning electron microscope (SEM).The SEM images showed an octahedral structure, the average diameter of which is about ۳۰۰ nm.Pollutant adsorption tests were conducted over Rhodamin B (RhB) dye as an organic pollutant.The maximum equilibrium adsorption capacity was ۱۹.۱ mg g-۱ with RhB dye having an initialconcentration of ۳۰ mg L-۱. Langmuir isotherm model was the best fit for adsorption data basedon linear regression analysis. The best kinetic model for the adsorption was pseudo-second-orderkinetics (R۲ = ۰.۹۹۸۱). The effect of dye concentration, contact time, and MOF dose on theadsorption of dye was also investigated. The study showed that MOF-۸۰۱ is an efficient adsorbentfor the removal of RhB dye from aqueous solution. Therefore, MOF-۸۰۱ could be regarded as apromising adsorbent for the removal of dye pollutants due to its high adsorbent activity, goodreusability, and easy preparation. MOF-۸۰۱ can be reused at least five times.
