SDS-PAGE proteinanalysiswasperformedin ۱۶ populations of ۶ Stipa species in order to determine the use of such data in taxonomy and elucidating the species inter-relationships. In total ۲۹ protein bands wereobtained, some of whichwerecommon to all the specieswhilesomewerespeciesspecific. Intra-specificprotein variation wasobserved in some of the species. Cluster analysis of protein data showeddistinctness of the speciesstudied and alsosupported the species inter-relationshipsrevealed by morphologicalcharacters.
