One of the principles of New Urbanism is the management of the environment and urban resources. In this regard, by examining the internal and external factors affecting the city of Ardabil, the appropriate strategic alternatives were examined and from the perspective of New Urbanism, the factors were analyzed through a Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix, and finally, the alternatives with more than the average attractiveness scores were announced as the best implementation strategies for making the city suitable. According to SWOT analysis, the dominant strategy of the city is the integration of urban strengths and opportunities (SO). Among the ۶۷ implementation strategies selected by SO, according to the opinions of ۴۵ experts, the top ۵ strategies were examined in the QSPM matrix, among which the ۳ implementation strategies selected for New Urbanism are: ۱) creating dense and fully intertwined neighbourhoods; ۲) improving the quality of the environment to control environmental pollution; ۳) Improving the quality of life and creating safety for the residents of Ardabil City.
