Spanish programs in universities are seeing an increase in demand for Hispanic linguistics courses. However, more research is needed on how to effectively teach these courses through communicative and content-based strategies and approaches. This article provides a guide on the effective methods for teaching introductory courses on Hispanic linguistics. The main emphasis is on promoting collaborative learning and problem-solving activities. Instructors are advised to adopt a descriptive approach to linguistics and to clarify any misunderstandings that students may have about language by keeping the course objectives in mind.
