This paper examines the historical, cultural, and national identity transformations in Russia. Using qualitative historical analysis methodology and primary sources, the study chronologically analyzes the major social and cultural changes that took place in different periods of Russian history. It first looks at pre-revolutionary Russia by exploring the eras of the Russian Tsarist and Soviet empires. Then it covers the modern post-Soviet period following the dissolution of the USSR. In this process, the impact of religion, arts, and political-economic events on shaping Russian national identity are highlighted. In the analytical section, the formation of Russia's contemporary national identity in cultural, social, and political spheres is investigated to understand the current nature and characteristics of Russian society. Religious traditions, changes in arts/literature, and reactions to shifting domestic-international power dynamics are discussed. Through detailed historical overview and in-depth analysis, the paper seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of Russian civilization and people over centuries amid constant transitions.
