Mesoporous silica material supported ionic liquid, IL- SBA-16, was prepared by covalent attachment of chloropropyl silyl groups and reaction with1-methyl imidazole on the surface of the silica mesoporous materials. Then, reaction of IL-SBA-16 with H3PW12O40 resulted in the preparation of heteropolytungstate- ionic liquid supported on the surface of SBA-16. The PW-ILSBA-16 was characterized with different physicochemical methods such as Infrared and atomic absorption spectroscopies, X-ray diffraction
