The increasing role of information infrastructures in today‟spower system results in a demand for high level of networkavailability and reliability. However, unlike the traditionalInformation Technology environment, power system has a fewcharacteristics, which makes us develop network and systemmanagement (NSM) data object models. The initiative stepshave been launched at IEC standardization, and show whatneeds to be defined and monitored for enhanced reliability andavailability of power system, but except Advanced MeteringInfrastructure (AMI). Considering its territory and environment,it seems to be more important to develop common NSM dataobjects for AMI. EPRI identified a common set of AMI electricmeter alarms and events later, but not NSM objects broadly. Weinvestigate current efforts for AMI security, and then suggest thecommon AMI NSM objects with some exemplars in this paper.Our work is expected to become a stepping stone towardreliable Smart grid
