خلاصه مقاله:
A straightforward, efficient and sustainable palladium catalyzed method was developed for oxidation of benzylic alcohol with 30% H2O2 in water. The reaction proceeded with palladium (1mol%) at 25oC without additional base or ligand during 1 h. Primary benzylic alcohols were converted almost quantitatively to aldehydes with most selectivity, corresponding acids being the major side products. Also, secondary benzylic alcohols afforded the corresponding aldehydes in high conversion selectivity greater than 90%.It was demonstrated that the catalyst can be recycled and reused at least for three runs with insignificant loss in the catalytic activity.
