خلاصه مقاله:
Horizontal curves are most important parts of roads and critical components on aroadway that providing sight distance in it have been concerned for engineers.Enough sight distance gives enough chance to drivers to decide and do brakingprocess before collision with obstacles.In this research, GIS approaches for analyzing H-Curves have been evaluatedand new method for determining the stopping sight distance by GIS tools hasbeen introduced. This method can identify the curves with poor sight distance, byaerial maps, topography of area, and recognizing the obstacles. Because of GISability in using of GPS, it can be useful when highway design data are notavailable. The use of a GIS allows the sight distance analysis to be integratedwith other analyses related to traffic safety, such as crash and design consistencyanalyses.
