This study categorizes the main studies done on transit assignment modeling into two groups: static transit assignment and dynamic transit assignment. The different modellingapproaches including frequency-based, schedule-based and agent-based approaches are also accommodated in this classification. In addition, the paper makes a systematic comparison between alternative approaches to modelling the congestion effects in transit networks.Meanwhile, the advantages and disadvantages of the presented models and their underlying assumptions are discussed
