This study considers the analysis of the surface properties of emulsion blends films made of poly(butyl acrylate-co-methyl methacrylate) latices and silicone polymer latices were synthesized through conventional emulsion polymerization and cationic ring opening macroemulsion polymerization of octamethyl cyclotetrasiloxane, D4, respectively. The blend ratios of 90/10, 80/20, 70/30, 60/40, 50/50 were used. The integrity of the blend films were investigated visually and contact angle measurements used to characterize surface hydrophobicity of the films. The results showed an appropriate ratio of silicone (10-20 wt. %) in blends can provide continuous and clear films along with increasing water contact angle on the surface of the films from 45º (in the sample AS 90/10) to 84º (in the sample 80/20). The results confirmed blending acrylic and silicone latexes in an appropriate ratio can lead to a uniform hydrophobic coating film
