Power system stabilizers (PSSs) are the most well-known and effective tools to damp power system oscillations caused by disturbances. Damping scale s expected value for electromechanical modes are extracted and used to form an objective function. The objective function is solved by General Relativity Search Algorithm (GRSA). In this paper, GRSA is used to design PSSs in the two-area ten-machine system of 39-bus NewEngland test system. Finally, a comparison with famous GAs is given. The results of the GRSAPSS are demonstrated through time domain analysis, eigenvalues and performance indices
