خلاصه مقاله:
Although a lot of modification carried on metals are used in the human body, but Titanium, its alloys and stainless steel 316L are the most widely used biomaterials for implants today. There's still some ambiguity in the corrosion behavior of metals in simulated body fluid. A cyclic polarization test could be a useful tool for different characterizations ofmaterialsin a media. With the cyclic polarization test, a systematic characterization study has been carried out on different materials such as commercially pure titanium, Ti-6Al-4V and 316LVM stainless steel under a simulated body fluid. at 37"C. Breakdown potential.corrosion rate and potential, localized corrosion resistance, and repassivation after breakdown, were evaluated and compared. Advantages of anodizing on titanium samples were seen. Also, passivation carried out on steel samples and the effect of passivation was investigated. The advantages of the CP titanium over other materials were highlighted in almost all the above specifications. After a 4 month immersion in SBF, some verification was seen in the corrosion behavior of these metals; 316LVM stainless steel has especially shown marked differences in the breakdown potential and localized corrosion. The effect ofthe anodizing of titanium and the passivation of stainless steel has been reported to being well.
