خلاصه مقاله:
Background: Iran has been classified as a malaria eliminating phase. Anopheles stephensi known main vector of disease in Iran. Monitoring of insecticide resistance of malaria vector(s) is important in malaria control programme. Objectives: The objective of the present study was to evaluate determine the base line susceptibility of the An. stephensi to the WHO-recommended insecticides in an endemic focus of malaria in southern Iran..Materials and Methods: Adult susceptibility test was carried out by larval collection using dipping method and adult collection by suction tube in Roodan Area, Hormozghan provice, southern Iran. The suseptibility test was performed to DDT 4%, malathion 5%, propoxur 0.1%, lambda-cyhalothrin 0.1% and deltamethrin 0.1% at discriminative dose followed by 24 h recovery period using WHO standard susceptibility test kit. Data was measured using. probit analysis and Excel software , as well as by analysis of variance. in this study, the confidence interval of 95% and P value less than 0.05 considered as the significant value. Results: An stephensi was susceptible to all insecticides except DDT. The LT50 and LT90 values to DDT in this species were 109.25, and 210.45 minutes, respectively. Conclusion: It is the first report of the susceptibility test of An stephensi in Roodan area, southern Iran. Due to the high abundance of the malaria vectors and the risk of returning the disease, regular susceptibility test recommended in the future. We suggested the same study in different parts of the country for monitoring and evaluation of control program
