Relationship of School Attachment and Parents’ Attachment Styles with the School Performance of Female High School Students

This study was conducted with the aim of examining the relationship of students’ school attachment and parents’ attachment styles with the school performance of female high school students of the city of Bandar Abbas in the educational year of 2012-13. The research method of the present study was descriptive correlational and descriptive survey. The population in this research included the female high school students of the city of Bandar Abbas in the educational year of 2012-13. The statistical sample of the present study was composed of 380 students selected through multistage random sampling. In this study, two standard questionnaires, i.e. Brown and Evans’s School Attachment Questionnaire (SAQ) and Collins and Read’s Attachment Styles Questionnaire (ASQ) as well as the average scores of students were used to assess their school performance. The results indicated that there is a relationship of school attachment and parents’ attachment styles with the school performance of female high school students of the city of Bandar Abbas and the components of school attachment and parents’ attachment styles can by and large explain almost 6.1% of school performance variance.
