A Preliminary Review of Methods and Tools for Semi-Automatic Video Annotation

In this paper, we review the most recent advances in techniques and tools for helping ease annotating images and especially videos for computer vision tasks. We categorize different methods for assisting human annotators and reducing the time required. We also review the literature together with the open-source community for tools and user interfaces allowing manual and semi-automatic image and video annotation. At last, we compare commonly used open-source tools by the following metrics: ease of installation, integration of semi-automatic methods, extensibility and portability.
