بررسی اولیه ی حشرات مرتبط با گونه های اکالیپتوس و تعیین آفات مهم آنها در ایران

Eucalypts (family Myrtaceae), an Australian origin, represented by around 700 species is a genus of tall, evergreen and magnificent trees cultivated wildly for its oil, gum, pulp, timber, medicine and aesthetic values. Many species of this genus were imported to Iran 40 years ago and they were planted in some areas in south, central and north of Iran for preserving natural forests, control of desertification, supplying wood and obtaining essential oil and presently, they play important role in these regards. . The economic importance of Eucalypts in Iran has inspired study of insects associated with them and introduction of their pests and for this reason faunestic studies are acquire great importance. Faunistic studies account as the baseline for developing any management strategy to combat pest associated with Eucalyptus and ultimate the project was carried out in 2005- 2008 in various eucalypt plantations in north, central and south of Iran. The purpose of the project was to collect and identify insect and other arthropods associated with eucalypt trees and introduction of important pests of these trees in Iran. For collecting of entomological material, several different methods were used. These methods were changed or combined according to the ecobiological character and kind of insects. Insect was killed in such a way that it was not damaged or broken and transferred to laboratory for identification and compliment studies. Many scientific sources include electronic documents, diagnostic keys as well as cooperation of various senior experts inside and outside of the country were intended to assist recognizing insect families, genera and species. So far a vast number of insects and other arthropods specimens have been collected and they are currently maintained at FRAM housed in Tehran. Identification procedures started with two orders of Hymenoptera and Coleoptera and continued for other orders. Of Hymenoptera 13 genera and species from different families (Formicidae and Eulophidae) have sofar been identified. In terms of Coleoptera 14 genera and species of Staphilinidae, Curculinidae and Cetonidae were identified. Of Thysanoptera, 1 species of Phlaeothripidae, 1 species of Aeolothripidae and 5 species of Thripidae were identified. About Homoptera few species from Issidae ، Cixiidae ، Tettigometridae ،Cercopidae and Cicadellidae were identified.
