This study was designed to compare the inactivation effects of Formalin and Binary Ethylenimine (BEI) on Newcastle disease (ND) virus (V4, HA=10, EID50=9.67) and Avian Influenza (AI) virus (H9N2, HA=10, EID50=10), to apply for making the bivalent inactivated NDV& AI vaccine. The optimum molarities, temperature and time for inactivation the viruses with BEI were determined. They were 0.004 M/L, 19 and 21 hours and 30 c .Inactivation with Formalin was taken place in routine way in our vaccines, (0.1% concentration for 16 hours in 37 c). The experimental oiled bivalent inactivated NDV& AI vaccines were made of the viruses inactivated with BEI and Formalin separately (EONA and FONA). These two experimental vaccines, RAZI's oiled bivalent inactivated NDV& AI vaccine (PNA) and two other commercial oiled bivalent inactivated NDV& AI vaccines (MNA and LNA) were inoculated to the 21 days healthy chickens via Sc rout. After 3 weeks the chickens were bleeding weekly for 6 weeks .The treated serums were tested for HI and the results were compared. The results showed: ND viruses inactivated with BEI induced more HI titer than ND viruses inactivated with Formalin and AI viruses inactivated with BEI induced less HI titer than AI viruses inactivated with Formalin.
