چکیده طرح پژوهشی:

‭The aim of this main research project is finding the best method for watershed management in north of Iran. For this comprehensive project, Vaz watershed with 14000 hectar area, selected and some sub-research projects proposed. At the first phase the topics of: Climatology, Meteorology, Geology, Pedology, Phytosociology, Silviculture, Rangelands and rural Socio‬ص ‭Economical studied. At the same time 23 scholarship researches were done in this area. As the results: 45% of the Vaz watershed area is in higher classes than 40 percent of ground gradient, 32% of forest lands are deforested or have less than 100 tree number per hectar, the average of forest volume is 280 sylve per hectar, rural activities affected forest structure located under 1400 meters above sea elevation by manipulation out of forestry project, about 44% of the rangelands are in poor class and the rest are in middle class, all types of rangelands show negative tropism. Total population is 4360 persons which 77% live in rangelands and the rest live in forest lands, occupation rate is very low. Domesticate animal livestock (cow and sheep) is about 44454 units, of which 21 % breed with the resident people and the rest by seasonal decampers. Anyway, these animals population is 400% grater than the capacity. At the second phase, series No.1 and 2 were studied in detail scale to compile the project of forest management. As the results in more than 66% of the area "Carpinus-Fuel wood species" forest type is abundance. In 80% of the forest lands twig and branches cut by shepherds. In 50% of the forest canopy is lower than 60 percent. The average of regeneration cover is 18% and in 90% of the area is lower than 40 percent. Allowable cut rate is about 1.084% of the wood stock equal to 3.27 cubic meters per hectare.‬
