چکیده مقاله:

Self-care activities are among the most important strategies to control the disease, the key to successful treatment, and improving social functioning. This study aimed to investigate the necessity of using media education (WhatsApp) and its effectiveness in patients' self-care with Quid 19. Methods: The present study was quasi-experimental, one group, with before and after design. Samples include 100 patients with Covid 19 from 22 Bahman Hospital in Neishabour, with inclusion criteria (discharged, consentto participate, the ability to use WhatsApp and have a mobile phone, not a member of the treatment staff, no hearing, vision or mental problems) method Purposeful sampling was selected from June to August 1399. Selfmade checklist collection tool for Covid 19 disease self-care needs with 12 dimensions and 110 items (disease symptoms, home care, nutrition, daily activities, follow-up measures, animal care, surface cleaning, hand washing, masking tips, activity Sex, disease spread, use of disinfectant) completed by patients before and two weeks after training. The items were scored as zero and one (lack of awareness = 0 and awareness = 1). The average below 30 was considered inadequate knowledge, 31 to 60 moderate, and above 61 desirable. The intervention was a multimedia training program (WhatsApp Messenger) for two weeks, based on the checklist and patients' needs. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics of Chi-square, Fisher, paired t-test were used by SPSS software version 22.Results: 55.6% of patients were female, and 40% had undergraduate education, their average age was 56.49, and most of them were married and lived in the city and homemakers. 60% did not report a history of the underlying disease. The overall mean level of knowledge was 25.66 4. 4.01, and a low level was reported before the intervention. The highest level of awareness was related to follow-up measures, and the lowest was related to how to deal with animals and sexual activity. The overall mean knowledge level was 68.37. 3.04 and was reported at the desired level after training. The mean score of patients' knowledge and knowledge increased significantly after training (p = 0.03). The level of knowledge and awareness of 66% of patients was reported to be high. Conclusion: This study's findings showed that education using WhatsApp messenger could be related to improving patients' knowledge and awareness. Due to the lack of medical staff and quarantine in the corona crisis is an excellent way to improve the quality of care.
