Comparison of the effect of short-term treatment with methadone and buprenorphine on cognitive functioning and emotions in addicts in Kermanshah

Cognitive and affective factors play an important role in the treatment of addicts. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of short-term treatment with methadone and buprenorphine on cognitive functioning and emotions in addicts.This study was a cross-sectional and causal-comparative study. The statistical population of this study included all men treated with preservatives. The study population consisted of ۳۰ patients treated with methadone and buprenorphine at Kermanshah Drug Abuse Clinic in ۱۳۹۶. All subjects were assessed by Garnefsky's Cognitive Adjustment Test. Data were analyzed using descriptive index and independent t-test.The mean scores of overall quality of life in the experimental group showed a significant change in the post-test, but it was not significant in the follow-up. According to the findings, it can be concluded that the recent intervention has been effective in improving the quality of life of opioid addicts treated with methadone in the short term but has not had a significant effect on the quality of life in the long run.
