چکیده مقاله:

Background: Viral infections are an important issue that can cause invasion or damage to the male reproductive system. Objective: Because Coronavirus disease (COVID-۱۹) is a viral infection, this study was performed to investigate the effect of Covid-۱۹ on male fertility.Materials and Methods: This Narrative Review reviews the search engines and databases of PubMed, Cochran, Library Online Wiley, Google Scholar, Base, Tandfonline, Doaj, Civilica, SID, Magiran, Noormags, Irandoc, Elmnet in English and Persian with the keywords COVID-۱۹, Fertility, Infertility and Male selected by MeSH and their Persian equivalents, from ۲۰۱۹ to ۲۰۲۱. From ۲۱۴۱ obtained articles, the full text of ۳۸ articles used for writing this article. Results: Evidence suggests that SARS-COV-۲ may attack other vital tissues in addition to the respiratory system. There is considerable concern about the increased risk of prostate cancer, which requires further research. The lack of other known risk factors for anorgasmia points to the role of COVID-۱۹ as a contributing factor. However, the long-term effects of SARS-Cov-۲ infection on sexual dysfunction are unknown. Conclusions: COVID-۱۹ does not appear to have any significant destructive effects on male sexual health and reproduction in the short term. However, the gonads may be vulnerable to SARS-CoV-۲ infection. Therefore, we must consider the potential impact of COVID-۱۹ on the male reproductive system. Assessment of patients for fertility due to the potential involvement of the potential male genitalia during infection has been recommended to urologists and other physicians, and research and medical measures should be made on possible vulnerabilities.
