Desalination Combined with Power Generation and Wastewater Treatment Using Microbial Desalination Fuel Cells

In this paper we introduce the microbial desalination cell (MDC) as a method of desalination that have thepotential to treat many different type of impaired water with require little to no energy input. This systemis combine two technologies: fuel cells and electrodialysis and therefore it is capable of producing energyand desalinating water and treating wastewater. However, MDC is emerging technology and still need asignificant amount of research to commercialization.
