Bridges, as the most important road infrastructure, are always subject to a crisis of depreciation and destruction in terms of construction and serviceability, and with the decline in government budgets and consequently the decline in their maintenance credits, it is not far from mind that the crisis is approaching a catastrophe. In such a situation, a dynamic and comprehensive system that can provide appropriate prioritization for limited budget allocation is undoubtedly desirable for trustees. This system is called the Bridge Management System (BMS). This study seeks to investigate the potentials of improving the road bridge management system in Iran. For this purpose, a library study approach has been used to evaluate other researchers' findings on BMS improvement potentials. The result of this study is to select three techniques such as project risk management, inclusive quality management and data mining techniques whose functions and characteristics can adapt and improve BMS functions. Improved BMS performance through a field study and critical review of bridges across the country. The final result of the study showed that the proposed improved performance fulfilled the expectations of the Iranian bridges maintenance executives in general and in stages.
