Breast Cancer Incidence in Iran According to National Cancer Registry-۲۰۱۵

Introduction: Cancer is one of the most important causes of mortality. Among cancers, breast cancer is the one with high incidence and mortality. Understanding the epidemiology and incidence of breast cancer can be very effective in planning. This study was conducted to investigate the incidence of breast cancer in Iran in ۲۰۱۵. Method: This study is a cross sectional and pathology-based study that kind of re-analysis of existing data and the of all new female patients registered in the Islamic Republic of Iran .Data of the cancer registry in ۲۰۱۵ was used. Incidence rates reported directly were standardized based on the World Health Organization (WHO) population. Crude incidence rates and age standardized incidence rate (ASR) were calculated. STATA version ۱۴ Software were used to calculate incidence rates. Result: A study of cancer registry statistics in ۲۰۱۵ showed that ۱۲,۸۰۲ cases of breast cancer were registered in the country, which accounts for ۲۵.۰۲% of all female cancers. The highest incidence occurred in the age group of ۶۰-۶۴ years with a rate of ۷۵.۱۰۰. The crude incidence rate was ۳۳.۲۶ and the age-standardized incidence rate (ASR) was ۳۲.۶۳. Conclusion: Public health measures are essential for the prevention and screening of breast cancer with the aim of early detection of patients.
