Water and Sediment Management Alternatives In Semi Arid Region

This paper will introduce a combined modeling approach using a water and sediment budget model (Water Availability in Semi – Arid environments) and a 3D reservoir sedimentation model to adapt reservoir operation and visualize their effects on the sediment deposition. An effective combined sediment-water management can be identified under semi-arid conditions for dry and wet years. Modeling scenarios results will confirm the effectiveness of adapted operation rules for the reservoirs and will show that the operation of large dams could be modified according to a combined sediment-water management.
