Length-weight relationship of four fish species of the genera Pseudorhombus, Plicofollis and Scarus (Actinopterygii: Paralichthyidae, Ariidae and Scaridae) from the Persian Gulf, Iran

In the present study, the length-weight relationships (LWRs) parameters of ۱۴۸ specimens representing four species, including ۲۰ specimens of Pseudorhombus javanicus, ۷۰ Plicofollis dussumieri, ۲۸ Scarus persicus and ۳۰ S. fuscopurpureus collected from the Persian Gulf were estimated. The LWRs equations were found as W=۰.۶۷×L۲.۲۳ for P. javanicus, W=۰.۰۵×L۲.۳۸ for P. dussumieri, W=۰.۶۲×L۲.۱۵ for S. persicus and W=۰.۲۷×L۲.۴۱ for S. fuscopurpureus. The values of b ranged from ۲.۱۵ (S. persicus) to ۲.۴۱ (S. fuscopurpureus), with coefficient of determination (r۲) greater than ۰.۸۵. The present study represents the LWRs parameters for P. javanicus from the Persian Gulf, Iran for the first time and provides useful information for marine ecologists, fishery managers, conservation marine fishes, and an online database of FishBase.
