چکیده مقاله:

In the field of English language teaching, the undeniable relationship between language and culture has always been a focus of attention from a variety of perspectives. Today, the main concept of foreign language education is a social interaction rather than a linguistic exchange. Despite a strong interconnectedness between language and culture in foreign language learning, learning of culture has not been integrated into the curricular goals. This study was conducted to discover Iranian English teachers' perceptions toward the necessity of teaching culture in English as a foreign language (EFL) contexts. Data were collected through a questionnaire adapted from Han's (۲۰۱۰). The questionnaire was distributed to the ۳۰ Iranian English teachers (۱۴ males and ۱۵ females) to understand their perceptions. Findings revealed that all the teachers agreed with the necessity of teaching culture in EFL contexts. The implication of the findings proved that teaching language and culture should be integrated.
