چکیده مقاله:
Sustainable development is a relatively new concept that can be interpreted as intergenerational justice. In fact, it should be said that development is sustainable when, in addition to meeting the needs of the current generation, it does not cause the inability of future generations to meet their needs. In recent years, concrete as the most basic building material has played a key and undeniable role in the current urbanite development, but for various reasons, the development of the concrete industry is not sustainable. First, the industry consumes a large amount of the earth's raw materials, and second, Portland cement, as the main concrete binder, plays a major role in the production of greenhouse gases, which has led to global warming. In order to establish the principles of sustainable development in the production and design of concrete, this issue should be considered in each of its main components (water, cement and aggregates). In this study, after reviewing and researching, it was concluded that the treatment of wastewater in the concrete production process, can be an immense step towards implementing the concepts of sustainable development in concrete production. Also, increasing efficiency in fossil fuel and electricity consumption, using alternative fuels, using clinker replacement materials, collection and complete control of carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere, are four main attempts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from cement production. Due to the importance of the issues raised, in this article, using a library approach, articles and statistics worked in this field were compiled and classified into four sections. It is hoped that this article will apply the principles of sustainable development in the civil engineering community.
