Background: Since a long time ago, trauma and accidents including epidemiology of major non-communicable diseases in the current century is considered as a destructive and deadly-causing agent to humans. Given the extent of damages resulting from accident and lack of accurate statistics in Khuzestan province, this study aimed to determine the epidemiological pattern of accidents in referring injured people to Khuzestan hospitals emergency department in ۲۰۰۹-۲۰۱۰. Method: This descriptive study is based on data collection for documenting the injured people in accidents and trauma which referred to emergency departments of Khuzestan hospitals in ۲۰۰۹-۲۰۱۰. Findings: The results are as follows: a total of ۸۶,۲۳۵ injured people registered in ۲۰ cities of Khuzestan province, the highest frequency related to the age group ۲۰ to ۲۹ years old (۳۳.۷%); most accidents and disasters related to men (۷۰.۵%). According to type of accidents, stroke with ۱۷.۸% had the most common frequencies and based on accident zone, ۷۶.۵% of accidents occurred in urban areas.  With regard to the place of accidents, the most common accidents related to home (۴۲.۴%) then alley and street (۳۳.۵%) respectively. A statistically significant relationship was observed between gender and type of accident. Conclusion: In the current community, disasters and accidents are not considered as a random phenomenon. Instead, they are a process that can be reduced by planning. However, the pattern of disasters and accident were studied in Khuzestan province which the results can be used as the basis for planning to reduce them.
