چکیده مقاله:

Despite the widespread use of piles, pile driving process is a source of some negative effects including noise, air pollution, the effects of vibrations originating from the impact driven piles. Peak Particle Velocity (PPV) is the most common criterion for assessment of ground vibrations induced by pile driving. In this study, the relation between PPV and Relative Density (Dr) characterization of soil and pile driving facility is reinvestigated based on case histories that involve measured PPV in coarse grained soils. New polynomial models are proposed for the correlation. A total of ۶۳ cases extracted from renowned references have been compiled. Comparison include polynomial fitting with earlier results of statistical correlation using two traditional methods between PPV and other soil and driven devise properties. The predicted values using proposed model are checked against the measured ones to evaluate the performance of the polynomial model. The outcomes suggest that the newly proposed approach provides a means for recognizing more efficiently the patterns in the data and reliably predicting PPV. The intercept term in the polynomial is of primary importance in such correlation, for coarse soils.
