Background and Objectives: Students with decision-making problems are often associated with problems in social skills that can make it more difficult and complex for them to make decisions about scientific-professional issues. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of assertiveness training through group counseling on students' academic achievement. Research Methods: The statistical population includes all male and female students of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. The sample size was selected using the sample size formula of ۸۰ people using a simple random sampling method. To collect data from four main tools. A: Social Skills Questionnaire including ۲۰ ۵-choice questions, B: Human Skills Questionnaire in ۵ four-choice components including ۲۶ questions, C. Demographic Questionnaire, D: Students' academic achievement scores (comparing the average of the semester before counseling Group and semester grade point average after group counseling) were used. Data analysis including descriptive statistics (frequency-percentage-graph, etc.), and inferential statistics (independent t-test and paired t-test) were performed through computer data processing. Findings: The results show that there is a significant difference between the social skills of the experimental group Students in pre-test and post-test. There is no significant difference between the social skills of control group students in pre-test and post-test. A comparison of the mean scores of the subjects in the two groups shows that the academic achievement of the subjects in the experimental group in the post-test are more than the control group. Conclusion: The results showed that assertiveness training through group counseling has an effect on students' academic achievement. Also, there is no difference between the academic achievement of male and female students.
