Today, new energies, despite remaining unknown, are rapidly expanding and penetrating, and neglecting them would be irreparable. Solar, wind, hydro, biomass, biogas and geothermal energy are the main sources of clean energy. Three issues in ۱۹۹۵ marked a turning point for renewable energy: Climate change due to the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere; increasing global energy demand; the opening of a promising vision for renewable energy technology, which was explicitly announced by experts. It should be noted that in fact, for every kilowatt hour of electricity generated from renewable energy instead of coal, the emission of about one kilogram of carbon dioxide will be prevented. Thus, for example, for each percentage of conventional energy replaced by wind energy, it decreases by about ۱۳ percent. Also, the reduction of sulfur and nitric oxide (agents of acid rain) is another CO۲ emission from environmental sources of wind energy. In Iran, the existence of suitable climatic conditions and sunlight in most areas and in most seasons of the year, as well as the existence of slopes and heights in the course of water streams, having areas with high wind potential and geothermal energy production capabilities, has provided the necessary and suitable ground for the use and expansion of new and clean energies. With the purpose of locating the potential of renewable energy in Iran, various studies have been conducted in the field of renewable energy, which will be discussed in the present study.
