چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : The prevalence of bacterial infections in hospitalized patients hasincreased dramatically in recent years. Antibiotic resistance also increases the importance ofrecognizing the abundance of bacteria associated with secondary bacterial infections. Therefore,the aim of this study was to investigate the frequency distribution of secondary bacterial infections(aerobic and anaerobic) in patients admitted to the dermatology ward of Al-Zahra Hospital, IsfahanUniversity of Medical Sciences.Methods : This analytical descriptive study was performed on ۲۰۰ dermatological patientsadmitted with secondary bacterial infection in the dermatology ward of Al-Zahra Hospital whounderwent smear and culture. Patients' file information was reviewed and information includingpatient's sex, patient's age, type of bacteria, type of skin disease, type of underlying disease wasprepared. After collecting data using frequency, percentage and paired t-test, the results wereanalyzed using SPSS software version ۲۱.Results : ۷۷ women (۳۸.۵%) and ۱۲۳ men (۶۱.۵%) had secondary bacterial infection. Theminimum age of patients was ۷ and the maximum was ۹۳ years with a mean age of ۴۸.۹۷ ۲۰ ۲۰.۰۷۵years. Also, the patients were hospitalized for a minimum of ۲ and a maximum of ۳۲ days, with amean hospital stay of ۱۱.۳۳ ۶. ۶.۱ days. ۱۶۶ cases (۸۳%) of the samples were cultured in thelaboratory and ۳۴ cases (۱۷%) were smeared. Staphylococcus species included a total of ۱۰۷ cases(۵۳.۵%) of the total bacteria involved in the development of secondary bacterial infection.Conclusion : The main bacterial agent in secondary infections in patients admitted to thedermatology ward of Al-Zahra Hospital of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences isStaphylococcus aureus.
