چکیده مقاله:

The current research reviews Iran-Sweden relations during the Safavid, Qajar, and Pahlavi periods, and after the Islamic Revolution of Iran. Also, it overviews the economic ties and the situation of Iranians in Sweden. This research was formed by reviewing previous documents and research and presented in a coherent frame. To achieve its foreign policy goals, Sweden has chosen to actively participate in international organizations and influence world politics within the framework of the policy of neutrality and multilateralism. Sweden has had a long-standing relationship with Iran, with a neutral policy on various issues, and Swedish authorities' have always emphasized multilateralism and moderation in regional and international affairs, so Iran can use this opportunity. In addition, the two countries also have different capacities for cooperation in economic areas. However, Tehran and Stockholm can improve their cooperation if banking and financial barriers are removed and commercial companies can enter the Iranian market without the concerns of sanctions. In the last few decades, Sweden's adherence to human rights standards has been one of the most effective factors, which has led to ups and downs in the relations between the two countries after Iran’s Revolution.
