چکیده مقاله:

Background: Numerous s tudies have shown that altering theexpression of s teroid genes and thus the expression of their proteinscan be one of the main causes of PCO syndrome. Mos t recently,it has been sugges ted that adipose tissue may contain theabnormal conversion the S teroid proteinogenesis. The ۳-BHSDprotein, which is an isomeras, is essential for the synthesis of all types of s teroids.Materials and Methods: In this case-control s tudy, ۳-BHSDprotein expression were compared in subcutaneous adipose tissueof ۱۱ pregnant women with and ۱۱ without PCOS who werematched with each other in terms of weight characteris tics beforepregnancy and age. A subcutaneous adipose tissue samples(۳-۴ grams) was obtained during cesarean section. The expressionof ۳-BHSD protein in adipose tissue was assessed usingWes tern blotting method. All obtained data were s tatis ticallyanalyzed using SAS software. Results: According to the analysis and quantification of the results,it was shown that the expression of ۳-BHSD protein inthe subcutaneous adipose tissue of the abdomen of the groupwith PCOS increased significantly compared to the non-PCOSgroup (P=۰.۰۰۶).Conclusion: Our results showed a link between s genes andproteins involved in s teroid metabolism and fatty acids in AT ofpregnant women which warrants further s tudies.
