چکیده مقاله:
Background: ۱۵ to ۱۷% of couples in the world are infertile.Nutrition plays an important role in fertility in both men andwomen. The global epidemic of obesity and declining spermcounts have concurrently become health concerns. Maternalnutrition has a significant effect on the metabolic activity of oocytes, oocyte quality and embryonic growth.Materials and Methods: This narrative essay searches all Englisharticles indexed in google scholar and pubmed databases, from ۲۰۱۸ until now, with the keyword “nutrition, infertility, reproduction, assis ted reproductive technique”.Results: Evidence shows that more consumption of omega-۳polyunsaturated fatty acids and lower intake of trans fats areassociated with a shorter time to pregnancy and better ARToutcomes. Obesity is directly linked to lower sperm count andtes tos terone levels. Chronic oxidative s tress due to obesity canalso cause sys temic inflammation by affecting the tes ticles andseminal vesicles. The use of nutritional antioxidants such as vitaminsC, E, beta carotene and micronutrients such as folateand zinc are essential for normal semen quality and reproductivefunction. A "healthy" diet includes a higher intake of wholegrains, grain, nuts, fruits, vegetables and fish and reducing theconsumption of trans fatty acids and red meat. There is a relationshipbetween this nutritional approach and the reduction ofinfertility due to ovulation in women and the improvement ofsemen quality parameters in men. Conclusion: It shows that nutritional s tatus can affect the resultsof infertility treatment outcomes. Therefore, nutritional interventionsbefore infertility treatments improve results, reducecos ts and increase mental health and fertility of couples
