چکیده مقاله:

Curcumin has a limited clinical application due to its extremelylow bioavailability. In this s tudy, to increase the bioavailabilityof curcumin within a cas tor oil-based polyurethane/LDH wound dressing, an inclusion complex of curcumin andp-sulfonated calix[۴]arene (SC۴A) was prepared. Then utilizedto intercalate the MgAl–layered double hydroxides (LDHs).The introduction of the nanos tructure into the PU film (PU/Cur-SC۴A-LDH) provided the bacteria-killing performanceagains t both S. aureus and E. coli bacteria. This finding is dueto the enhanced bioavailability of curcumin in the PU matrix.Furthermore, all PU nanocomposites exhibited appropriate cytocompatibilitybased on MTT assay. Mainly, the L۹۲۹ cellsproliferation on the PU/Cur-SC۴A-LDH film was significantlyfurther enhanced than other nanocomposites within ۷ days. Thisobservation can be related to the better availability of curcuminon the film's surface, which causes an improvement in the proliferationrate of cells. Regarding the his tological results, theH&E images showed the fas ter epidermal layer formation anda more significant number of matured hair follicles for PU/Cur-SC۴A-LDH-treated wounds compared to the negative controlduring ۲۸ days. Thus, this practical healing ability of the PU/Cur-SC۴A-LDH nanocomposite makes it a promising candidateas a wound dressing film.
