How to solve the problem of multiplying several digit numbers byseveral digit numbers

Multiplication is important in our life. All students in Iran learn simple multiplication in thirdgrade and they learn several multiplications in fourth and fifth grade and use those in all partsof their life. Most of students in fifth grade have problem with multiplication several digits. Inthis paper we use one new approach that always use in dictation to solve this problem. Thestudents often memorize the multiplication of one digit by one digit in the third grade in atabular form, but in higher grades, they have problems with multiplying multiple digits bymultiple digits, and parents usually prefer to solve the problem by teaching them thetraditional methods that they have been taught. In this research, we studied ۲۰ fifth gradestudents with an average age of ۱۰/۶ years, who were trained in the same class and with thesame teacher in the last two years, considering the descriptiveness of the evaluation of theelementary school in Iran; the results showed that the proposed method used by the researchteam was effective
