Background: Using non-pharmacological pain relief methods for reducing the labor painhas always been one of the major concerns in obstetrics and gynecology. Objective: Comparingthe effect of aromatherapy with Jasmine and Salvia on pain severity and labor outcome innulliparous women. Methods: In this study, ۱۵۶ nulliparous women were randomly selected anddivided into three groups of Salvia, Jasmine, and control (۵۲ in each group). Each group underwentaromatherapy using an incense mask for ۱۵ min (distilled water for the control group). Painseverity was measured before the therapy and ۳۰ and ۶۰ min after the incense aromatherapy. Also,duration of the first and second stages of labor, first and fifth min Apgar of the baby, and frequencyof labor type were measured and recorded for each group. Results: In comparison to the othergroups, pain severity and duration of the first and second stages of labor were significantly lowerin the aromatherapy group of Salvia ۳۰ min after the intervention (p=۰.۰۰۱). However, nosignificant difference was found between the three groups regarding pain severity ۶۰ min after thearomatherapy, the first and fifth min Apgar of the baby, and frequency of labor type. Conclusions:The results of the present study indicated that aromatherapy with Saliva had beneficial effects onpain relief, shortened the labor stages, and had no negative impacts on the baby's Apgar
