Background: Pregnancy and childbirth are the most stressful and important events in awoman's life. Mental and emotional health is very important in this time and It plays a significantrole in the health of the fetus and the mother's ability in the postpartum period. Participation andawareness of fathers during pregnancy and childbirth have a great impact on mother's health.Father's participation during childbirth varies in different cultures. Method: This study reviewedmore ۳۰ articles from ۲۰۱۵ to ۲۰۲۳ with search in reliability web site as PubMed, Web of science,ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, Uptodate and Scopus. The keywords used in this study were roleof father's, stress. Studies didn’t have this words in title excluded from review. Result: It has beenshown in different studies that the role of the father as a supporter in pregnancy and childbirth careis very important in reducing stress and postpartum depression and relieving pain. Fathers provideemotional, psychological, and practical support during labor, creating a more positive birthexperience for both parents. Sharing this experience stimulates an emotional bond betweenpartners and It strengthens the sense of shared responsibility for their child. In western countries,policies are adopted for more participation of fathers in childbirth so that the participation offathers in Scandinavian countries is ۹۸%. Conclusion: Involving fathers in care related topregnancy and childbirth is critical because they can play a major role in improving the final resultsof childbirth. There is a need to increase the awareness and knowledge of fathers in this context.According to their culture, different countries should provide the opportunity for fathers to bepresent during childbirth.
