In this study, we demonstrate the injection stage of MetalInjection Molding (MIM) process to fabricate a small bendtypecomponent. This non-standard but critical engine part ismade of a feedstock from the low alloy steel ۴۶۰۵. Tooptimize various injection parameters, the five-variable Box-Behnken Design (BBD) is used with the assumption of aquadratic model, together with the statistical method ofResponse Surface Methodology (RSM). Samples are thenfabricated and their densities are measured. Hence, thesignificance of these factors as well as the mutual couplingbetween each two parameters are investigated using theanalysis of variance (ANOVA). Finally, this paper reveals thatinjection temperature of ۱۵۵ ◦C, the injection speed ۸۰ mm/s,holding pressure of ۸۳ bar, holding time of ۹ s and theinjection pressure of ۱۳۲ bar lead to an optimum density of thegreen part, which becomes ۴.۸۹۲ g/cm۳. Then, a new sampleis produced using these optimized settings, and the greencomponent density is measured, which is extremely near to thepredicted value.
