Implementation of Dynamic Kitting in Automobile ManufacturingQUIK Parts; Pars Khodro, SAIPA

Automotive Industry needs to choose the proper feeding method to transfer the various categories ofparts to the loading area and stations with respect to the JIT principles namely exclusively leanphenomenon.One of the key decisions for every assembly line is the decision about the materials feeding systemwhich means the method of supplying materials to the operators in line side with the highest availableaccess ratio index. This decision affects all of the other activities performed as well as theperformance of the assembly line. In the industry especially Automobile Manufacturing sector, kittingis practiced as a challenging method of materials feeding.Although Kitting is proved to have distinctive benefits, some drawbacks are pinpointed amonglogistics which make Kitting applicable to: ۱) when a large number of variant components demand alarge floor area in the assembly system and ۲) for minimizing the risk of assembling the wrongcomponent which leads to extra non-value added rework and correction. In this paper, we investigatehow DYNAMIC KITTING METHOD can affect the indices toward continuous improvement.Dynamic Kitting, in the category of strategic improvement was held in Pars Khodro AutomobileManufacturing Company (SAIPA Group) known as the oldest car manufacturer whose joint withGeneral Motor is recorded previously. Pars Khodro has the experience of producing more than ۲۵۰۰۰۰ vehicles annually in various diversities including Renault, NISSAN and Brilliance products suchas Logan, Megan, Maxima, Sundero , Brilliance , Pick Up ,….
